Zlatan Ibrahimovic spoke on Inter Channel after Tuesday’s victory over Panathinaikos in Matchday 1 of the 2008/09 Champions League.
“We did well and not well tonight. Well because we were winning 1-0, and not well because you can’t concede a goal in that manner. Everyone saw Lucchini’s foul on me. The only one who didn’t see it was the referee, and there’s nothing I can do. The referee must always see everything because he’s the referee and he’s the most important man.
Inter Milan won the Italian Super Cup on penalties this evening and Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes that his team deserved the triumph as they were the better side.
Zlatan believes he still has a lot more to give to Inter, and says he is encouraged by the words of his new coach. “I’m very pleased about what Mourinho has said about me recently,” he added. “He has faith in me and I have faith in him. I think I can improve a lot more and I can give a lot more to him and Inter.”
Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s nagging knee injury does not require surgery and Inter Milan are hopeful the Sweden striker will be ready for the start of the season, the head of the club’s medical department said.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic did a great debut for Inter in 2006/2007 season, but this season his statistics has improved despite of playing less minutes and becoming an indispensable player for his team, with which he has won the two last Scudetti.
“If I can stay fit I can do even better than last year. I feel good now but I have more work to do to feel even better,” said Ibrahimovic after coming back from his holidays.
